Wow, another year is over and it's the festive season again. I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a happy holiday and a good 2010. In this edition of SWiSHzine we profile some new components and a good example of a Xmas tree image gallery you can rush out quickly for your friends. We also recommend you get the latest SWiSH Max3 and miniMax3 updates. Of course we have the usual list of interesting forums topics for review.

Enjoy!

Here are our more recent blog tutorials...

Season's Greetings!
Well its time to drag out the old Xmas tree from last year and redecorate it for this year's festive season. The gallery supports up to 10 photographs and associated captions. The background color, text and all of the photographs can be easily modified via the Wizard panel.

New Component: Callouts with Images
Callouts are those speech bubbles (or thought clouds) that you often see in cartoons. SWiSH Max3 has extended these components and added image versions. These allow you to add your own images to the callout shapes.

New Component: Ripple Effect
Have you ever wanted to give your logo, website or image a rippling water effect? This type of effect can add a nice touch to any website associated with water. The effect is achieved using Flash 8's Displacement Map Filter. Although the filter is comparatively difficult to use, we have made it easy for you by creating a special Ripple Effect component. The component can also be used to create 'Jelly' buttons such as the one below.

New Component: BulletPoints
Have you ever wanted to do a PowerPoint-like presentation with SWiSH Max3/miniMax3? This new component will make your task a lot easier. The following bullet points are a screen capture of the demo component.

New Component: ClipClone
Have you ever wanted to duplicate a movie clip or shape many times over and over in your movie? Although this can be done reasonably easily using the standard copy / paste commands, the new component 'ClipClone' may speed up the process significantly.

Block-Buster text scroller
Many users have asked how to do a 3-D scroll into the distance text effect as seen in some very popular science fiction movies. Although scrolling text is reasonably easy to achieve, it is far more difficult to give it the 3-D look as seen in the movies. We have done all the work for you and produced a component that you can simply drag onto the stage.

Adding a new section to the HiFi Template
The HiFi project template is one of the more popular free sample templates that is distributed with SWiSH Max3. We've received a number of requests to increase the number of sections...here is how.

Windows 7 Gadgets
The windows sidebar has been removed from Windows 7. However, Gadgets are still supported. Our earlier blog article 'Make a Vista sidebar gadget' explained how to make a gadget for Vista, this followup article explains how to convert these previously described gadgets for use on Windows 7.

Using Content Library
One of the more powerful features of SWiSH Max3 is the availability of the Content Library. The Library allows various Resources to be shared across multiple objects in your movie.

Countdown Timer
Have you ever wanted a countdown timer for your website, perhaps countdown to the New Year eve party? If so, then this component could be for you!
